The Best Basket is a Packed Picnic Basket!
I’m starting a new series revolving around picnic baskets. Spring is almost here—-and blink your eyes once and click your heels twice and it’s Summer!!! Some of us are experiencing an early spring and some of us are experiencing a late winter, but who says all picnics have to be outside?????
Food triggers emotions. My playful mood was triggered into action with this idea. I sent pictures of various picnic baskets to fellow food bloggers and posed the question—-What would you pack in your Picnic Basket?
My first Featured Playmate—-no not one with a bunny tail—-well at least I don’t think so—Lol—-is—–drum roll please!
John at Kitchen Riff representing what is in picnic baskets coming out of St Louis.
Wait until you scroll down and see what he packed in his basket. I’m getting a plane ticket to St. Louis. You better grab a drool towel.

Wow! What a fantastic menu! Now I am wishing for Spring even harder. That is what I call a perfect warm-weather meal. 🙂

I love the picnic theme, Carol — perfect for our early spring here in CA! And those ribs and horseradish potato salad look especially amazing!

I’m wishing that basket was waiting for me right now. I am STARVING. Albeit I do have ‘reserves’ to keep me from literally doing that. Ha!

Hi Carol,
What a GREAT idea especially with Spring right around the corner, finally, lol…I’m popping over from John’s delcious blog and I’m so glad I did! Just look at the deliciousness he would pack in his picnic basket. Where do I begin, oh my:)
We play the Picnic Game on my blog beginning International Picnic Day, which is June 18th. Are you going to be show casing picnic baskets for a while? It would be such fun if you could join us for the Picnic Game. It’s that game where players say I’m going on a picnic and I’m bringing…then each person picks a letter of the alphabet and “brings” it to the picnic by posting it on their blog. We’ve been playing it for 6 years now. It is such fun!!!
Thank you so much for sharing this picnic theme fun, I’ll be back for more, lol…

Oh my that sounds like a LOT of fun and right up my alley! Plus 6/18 is my eldest son’s birthday. He was my father’s first grandchild and born on my Dad’s 70th birthday, which also was Father’s Day that year.
Soooooo 6/18 is a propitious date for me. I already am having ideas. I will get back to you!

Wow! What a fabulous round up of picnic basket themed recipes, Carol. I am going to enjoy this series. I need some of those St. Louis ribs…and, that incredible potato salad with horseradish dressing is calling my name. 🙂 Thank you to both you and John for sharing!

John sooooooooooooooo outdid himself. I zeroed in on that potato salad too. I love my own potato salad, but I think John’s recipe is better. I am definitely going down that road the next time I make one.
