Grandma’s Old Fashion Bacon Baked Beans

Easy to make & worth the bake time wait.

Grandma's Old Fashion Bacon Baked Beans

Ingredients
  • 1 cup DRIED KIDNEY BEANS
  • 2 cups DRIED GREAT NORTHERN WHITE BEANS
  • 1½ cup BOILING WATER
  • ⅓ cup DARK MOLASSES
  • ¼ cup DIJON MUSTARD
  • ¾ cup BROWN SUGAR, firmly packed
  • ½ cup CATSUP
  • 1 lb THICK SLICED BACON, cut in 1 inch pieces
  • 2 MEDIUM ONIONS, roughly cut
Instructions
  1. ) In a Dutch oven add beans & enough water to cover beans
  2. ) Soak overnight
  3. ) If needed add more water to cover beans & bring to a boil
  4. ) Reduce heat to medium & cook until tender about 30 minutes
  5. ) Drain the beans & put back into Dutch oven with remaining ingredients
  6. ) Bake at 325 degrees F for 6 to 9 hours
  7. ) Stir occasionally while baking & add more water up to1 to 2 cups if beans become dry during baking
  8. ) Makes 8 cups
