Piquant Cherry Pecan Scones

Piquant Cherry Pecan Scones

Ingredients
  • 3 cups ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
  • 2 cups HEAVY CREAM
  • 1 cup DRIED CHERRIES
  • ½ cup chopped PECANS
  • ½ cup SUGAR
  • 2 tablespoons BAKING POWDER
  • 1½ teaspoons SALT
  • SUGAR GLAZE
  • 1 cup POWDERED SUGAR
  • 2 tablespoons MILK
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
  1. ) Sift together the dry ingredients--sugar, flour, salt, baking powder
  2. ) Mix in dried cherries and chopped pecans
  3. ) Make a hole in the center of the mixture & add the cream
  4. ) Stir until just moisten
  5. ) Place the dough in a 10 inch round cake pan lined with parchment paper
  6. ) Cover the dough with another 10 inch round piece of parchment paper
  7. ) Freeze the dough for at least 2 hours until firm
  8. ) Let the dough stand at room temperature for 5 to 6 minutes
  9. ) Flip it out on to a cutting board. Slice the dough in equal wedges and place on a baking sheet about 2 inches apart
  10. ) Bake for 30 to 40 minutes at 350 degrees until golden brown, then place on cooling racks
  11. ) Mix together sugar glaze ingredients & spoon over warm scones
  12. ) Yum!
