Piquant Cherry Pecan Scones
Ingredients
- 3 cups ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
- 2 cups HEAVY CREAM
- 1 cup DRIED CHERRIES
- ½ cup chopped PECANS
- ½ cup SUGAR
- 2 tablespoons BAKING POWDER
- 1½ teaspoons SALT
- SUGAR GLAZE
- 1 cup POWDERED SUGAR
- 2 tablespoons MILK
- ¼ teaspoon vanilla
Instructions
- ) Sift together the dry ingredients--sugar, flour, salt, baking powder
- ) Mix in dried cherries and chopped pecans
- ) Make a hole in the center of the mixture & add the cream
- ) Stir until just moisten
- ) Place the dough in a 10 inch round cake pan lined with parchment paper
- ) Cover the dough with another 10 inch round piece of parchment paper
- ) Freeze the dough for at least 2 hours until firm
- ) Let the dough stand at room temperature for 5 to 6 minutes
- ) Flip it out on to a cutting board. Slice the dough in equal wedges and place on a baking sheet about 2 inches apart
- ) Bake for 30 to 40 minutes at 350 degrees until golden brown, then place on cooling racks
- ) Mix together sugar glaze ingredients & spoon over warm scones
- ) Yum!
