Okay I feel compelled to be honest.
I guess that statement proves I really am a woman, because I am sharing my feelings. Ha! Yes, I really am typing along here and smiling. I do so love my own jokes, no matter how lame they might seem.
My revelation is I am always fiddling around with my recipes. So I made my Mama’s Raspberry Bars recipe and I fiddled with it. One of the fiddles I think was an improvement. The second fiddle was not the over the moon result I envisioned.
First off I added 1/2 cup of rolled oats. I think that was an improvement. Secondly I was bushwhacked by the fact I love raspberry jam, so more is better, right? Not really. It depends on how you are planning to serve it. If you cut a nice chuck of it, served it on a beautiful little serving plate with a dollop of whipped cream and a FORK—I capitalized fork for a significant reason—-then you would be just fine and dandy. However if you were intending it to be a bar cookie, which one generally eats with their fingers with only a napkin, then upping the raspberry jam from 3/4 cup to 1 cup is probably not a good idea. Although the extra jam did make for finger lickin’ delicious bars.
Yes I am once again typing along laughing at my own cornball joke. Albeit I love other people’s lame jokes as much as I love my own. I fully subscribe to the time tested adage that it’s appreciating the small aspects of life which brings one continuous spurts of joy.
I ate my finger lickin’ good raspberry bars with a cuppa of Moroccan Mint. I chose mint tea because it is such a contrast to the sweet fruitiness of the raspberry. In addition its distinctive flavor is not overshadowed by the in your face flavor of the raspberry.
