Yes, I know it’s a Swan and not a Goose, but I actually have a point to make. Trust me this is moderately unusual , since I don’t really see the point of having a point all the time. It inhibits you from taking a tangent path, which is often laced with surprises and waaaaaaay more interesting, then some ol’ predetermined point.
I’m feeling the urge to meander down one of those side paths right now. I can always make my point later. This swan is a teapot made by Franz Porcelain. Isn’t it exquisite. It’s made in China, hand painted, but food safe. It’s a beautiful reminder of what Made in China use to connote in our minds, It is heavenly to be reassured their incredible artistry still flourishes.
It’s spring. The winter sleep is over. Mother Nature is expressing her creativity in full glory brandishing her magic wand over the land. There is no other response except YES to life!!!! I feel like swishing my skirt, except I am in my bathrobe. Remember when you were a little girl and some moments were so perfect that the only way to truly express your delight was to skip and swish your skirt. In that splendid flash of time all was right with the world and intuitively we were basking in the glory of being female. When all is in alignment with boys, they strut, tall and proud to express their joy in being a male. Sometimes this called swagger. Most girls do not have the swagger gene.
Over the years I think we forget about our own glory as individuals. We become convinced only swans are beautiful and handsome. And so they are in their way, but so are ducks, geese, and penguins beautiful in their own way. I realize this isn’t new information. But don’t you think as the years accumulate, we forget about expressing our inner joy spontaneously. We reason it’s silly or we don’t have time . Now of course technology rules. Let’s see what would be the text speak equivalent of swishing your skirt?
Our inner knowingness of our unique value is buried in the ruble of currently popular and ever changing media standards. In the end many of us have forgotten about spontaneous unbidden joy, just as we might have forgotten about the quality that still originates in China. The media constructs are built on shifting sand. Such as in my case I missed being part of the era revering voluptuous figures. Wouldn’t you know I would be plunked down in the size 4 era. Honk, honk—that’s me crying in my hankie. Okay I admit, I am not sure I own a hankie anymore. But crying in your hankie sounds sooooo much better than snuffling in a crumbled tissue.
So my point is—-are you ready? Mother Nature has been around for a long time. Yep, it’s a scientific fact. Despite not possessing a facebook account, she does have her own highly successful form of instagram. We clearly get the message that each diverse form of life sings its own melody, no matter what song is currently trending on ITunes. So hey hey it’s time to say YES to life in all its wondrous versions. More importantly as individuals we need to sing out YES to life while appreciating our own special melody. Time to swish our skirts and strut our stuff. Skipping is so freeing. Remember the song Skip to my Lou. I wonder since I am a middle aged goose, if the picture of me skipping down the street will end up in our small town newspaper?
