Food For Thought #9

spices

Once you get a spice in your home,

 You have it forever.

Women never throw out their spices.

The Egyptians were buried with their spices.

I know which one I’m taking with me when I go.

Erma Bombeck

Erma was and remains a national treasure for humor as far as I am concerned. I feel honored to bring her words
      alive again.

I remember cracking at at everything Emma Bombeck said. I was so sad when she died. I miss her observations.

I think I must be the exception because I toss out old spices. 🙂

I do throw spices out BUT they are years old. So I am more of a Bombeck person. Ha. It is interesting to consider what spices you would want to take with you. Ha!

I’ve actually been pondering that. It’s like trying to pick your favorite color or book or movie. It all depends on the
mood. Soooooo I would have to take a selection! And yours?

It is a tantalizing question. Sounds like a great question for a food bloggers dinner party.

I actually check mine regularly. There’s nothing for annoying for me than an old spice that doesn’t taste up to par. Most times, I have the whole spice and grind it fresh. Perfect!

I know my Mom never did. I have a modest clean out every few years.

My husband was standing in my pantry the other day and I asked him what he was looking for. He said “chile powder…but there are way too many to know which one I want.” 🙂 So yes, I’ll be buried with my spices. 🙂
