Biscuits From Heaven
 
Ingredients
  • 1¾ cup ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
  • ¾ cup BUTTERMILK
  • 6 tablespoons BUTTER
  • 1½ tablespoons SUGAR
  • ½ teaspoon SALT
  • 1¼ teaspoon BAKING POWDER
  • ¼ teaspoon BAKING SODA
  • 3 tablespoons WARM WATER
  • ¾ teaspoon DRY YEAST
Instructions
  1. )  Preheat oven to 425 degrees
  2. )   Soften the yeast in the warm water for about 5 minutes/yeast will foam
  3. )  Add the buttermilk and butter to the yeast----set aside
  4. )  Sift together all the dry ingredients---flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda and sugar
  5. )  Make a hole in the center of the flour mix and add the yeast/ buttermilk
  6. )  Stir until dough is just moistened.
  7. )  Transfer dough to lightly floured surface, shape into a ball and knead two or 3 times
  8. )  Press the dough flat to a ½ inch thickness and cut out 2 inch biscuits
  9. )  Place biscuits on greased or cooking sprayed baking sheet
  10. )  Let rise for about 20 minutes until they are nearly doubled in size
  11. )  Bake until golden brown 12 to 14 minutes
  12. )  Eat and then you will know why they are called biscuits from heaven
